Food Insecurity in Reedsburg and Weston:

Food insecurity means not always knowing where your next meal will come from or whether you will have enough healthy food for your household. It can affect children, adults, and older adults in every part of our community, including families in the Reedsburg and Weston School Districts.

At Reedsburg Area Food Pantry (RAFP), we work to help meet that need with dignity and compassion.

This is the first blog on our new website, and we want to start by explaining what makes RAFP different from Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin and some other food pantries. Different does not mean better or worse. It simply means we serve our local community in our own way.

As an independent food pantry, RAFP can set its own guidelines and choose how food is shared with the people we serve. That gives us more flexibility to offer food based on household needs instead of only providing pre-packed boxes or drive-through distribution. Our goal is to offer a more personal and helpful experience for local families.

RAFP is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are fully supported by community partners, donors, and volunteers. Every food distribution depends on the kindness of people and organizations that believe no one in our area should go hungry.

One of our strongest partners is the City of Reedsburg, which provides rent-free space in City Hall for our pantry. That support helps us focus more resources on food and basic personal care items for the people who need them most.

The need in our area is real. In the first quarter of 2026, Reedsburg Area Food Pantry helped 663 families, including 30 families who were new to our pantry. That means 1,791 children and adults had access to a few more nutritious meals.

We know a food pantry should not be a household’s only source of nutrition. But we are proud to be a steady source of support for families working toward food security. Along with packaged food, fresh food, and basic personal items, we aim to provide care, respect, and hope.

RAFP serves residents of the Reedsburg and Weston School Districts who meet eligibility guidelines. On our website, you can find details about our service area, qualification criteria, food distribution times, and how to host a food drive. You can also find a simple way to support our mission financially.

This blog will continue to share updates about the impact of Reedsburg Area Food Pantry and the ongoing need for food assistance in our community. We are grateful for the support that makes this work possible.
