Helping Local Families Access Food in Reedsburg and Weston - April
With five food distribution days in April, the Reedsburg Area Food Pantry (RAFP) was a busy place helping local families in the Reedsburg and Weston School Districts access nutritious food and reduce food insecurity. Many households were able to ease their food insecurity with fresh and canned vegetables and fruit, as well as milk, eggs, cereal, pasta, potatoes, cheese, various proteins, and even some cookies and treats.
For residents facing hunger in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, access to a local food pantry can make a meaningful difference. The Reedsburg Area Food Pantry continues to provide food assistance with dignity and compassion to eligible households throughout our local service area.
RAFP became even more important to the Reedsburg and Weston School District communities as the Second Harvest Mobile Food Bank hosted by Sacred Heart Catholic Church saw April as its final month of operation. That leaves only The Den at the Reedsburg High School hosted Food Bank Drive on Tuesdays and the Reedsburg Area Food Pantry distribution on Wednesdays as food resources for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in the area. It is expected that we will see increased demand for food assistance services in the coming months.
As the need for food support grows, so does the need for community funding and local donations. One important way to support the Reedsburg Area Food Pantry is through memorial donations. This month, the families of Tom Seamonson, Patsy Collins, and Michael Hartje generously honored their loved ones through meaningful contributions to help neighbors facing food insecurity. It is with heartfelt condolences and sincere gratitude that we accept these substantial donations.
Webb Middle School conducted a food drive in April, and we thank the youth of our community for their involvement and generosity. Local student support plays an important role in helping stock pantry shelves and support families in need. Another easy way to donate food in Reedsburg is through the Grocery Cart located near the exit at Viking Village Foods. We are grateful to Viking Village Foods for their continued support of the Reedsburg Area Food Pantry and our mission to help local residents access healthy food.
We are also excited to share that, thanks to Freedom Marketing Management, our new website, ReedsburgAreaFoodPantry.com, will launch in May with online donation capabilities, making it easier than ever for supporters to donate to the Reedsburg Area Food Pantry online and help local families in need. Thank you, Taren, for helping guide us through the digital process and supporting our nonprofit mission.
As we continue serving residents throughout the Reedsburg and Weston School Districts, we thank you for your ongoing support of the Reedsburg Area Food Pantry. Together, we can continue fighting hunger in Reedsburg and helping local families access the food they need.
