What Does a Food Pantry Cart Look Like? - June

Many people wonder what a visit to the Reedsburg Area Food Pantry looks like and what food assistance families actually receive. We wanted to share photos of two typical food pantry carts to help our community better understand how local food support works for families in need throughout the Reedsburg and Weston School Districts.

One photo shows a typical grocery cart for a one-person household during their first visit of the month. Based on the food choices they make, a household may receive canned vegetables, pasta, pasta sauce, canned chicken or tuna, soup, and other everyday grocery staples that help stretch a food budget and provide nutritious meals.

The second photo shows what a food pantry cart for a family of five may look like. Families make many of the same food choices, but larger households receive more food to help feed more people. Every family deserves access to healthy meals, and our pantry works hard to meet those needs.

A large portion of what families receive includes meat, cheese, crackers, fresh vegetables, and fruit. These important food items are made possible through the generous monetary donations we receive from individuals, businesses, and community supporters throughout the year. Financial contributions help us purchase fresh and nutritious foods that are often in high demand by families experiencing food insecurity in Reedsburg and surrounding communities.
